BY MALLORY GRAVES

There's plenty going on this weekend, so don't you dare glue yourself to your couch. From craziness in Pasadena to art in Miracle Mile, to circle pits at Pennywise and (drumroll) your last chance to hit the ice rink in Santa Monica, we do believe you're covered for this weekend's festivities. And if you're not, why don't you go cleanse yourself in the waters of Lake Montaka (sp??!!). Thank you, Dave Chappelle.

Miracle Mile Art Walk

What: In the hub of L.A's most veritable art groove, the Miracle Mile Art Walk is the perfect event for art lovers who loathe being cooped up in stuffy galleries or wearing those ridiculous pre-recorded headsets they give you in museums. This installment of the MMAW (which takes place the third Saturday of the month) is hosted by the Stephen Cohen Gallery and features artist Anthony Friedkin discussing the work of Todd  Walker as well as his own, followed by a reception at Panini Grill Deli on Wilshire (this whole shabang takes place at 2pm). Also, from 5:15-6:15 pm, a listening party will be provided by the producers of the cd "Yes We Can: Voices of a Grassroots Movement" at the Alitash Kebede Gallery in honor of the coming ingauguration. From 6:30-8:30 pm, the after party moves to Sante La Brea Restaurant, where there will be plenty of artsy people getting toasted and grooving to good music. And don't forget about the 40 plus galleries you'll have the chance to peek as you choose.
When: Saturday, January 17th, 1:00 pm- 6:00 pm
Where: The Miracle Mile
Cost: FREE!
Info: For maps, a list of galleries and more info, visit www.midcitywest.org

Dim Sum Ride

What: What's better than hopping on a bike and crusing the streets of downtown L.A. for the best dim sum? I mean, why didn't I think of that? The weekly ride has proven to be a big hit for those with strong leg muscles, minimal upchuck reflexes and a desire to discover the best of the best of those tasty Los Angeles dim (sum). In SUMmation, get your booty to Highland Park this Sunday morn and get ready to get sum dim. OK, down with the punnage.
When: Sunday, January 18th @ 10:00 pm
Where: Highland Park, 5711 N. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, 90042, (213)-909-8986
Cost: FREE!
Info: For more info, visit www.flyingpigeon-la.com

The 32nd Pasadena Doo-Dah Parade

What: If you detest the unnecessary kempt tradition of the Rose Bowl Pardade and all their dandy little floats and marching bands, then this is the quintessential bastard child and alternative freak show you've been looking for. For one day only, the quirky patrons of this city come out to the main strip of Pasadena and basically f*** up the natural order. We're talking pancakes flying into the crowd, people dressed like showers, kids playing their instruments backwards, rednecks galore and plenty of nearly-nude bodies, all meandering down the streets of Old Town Pasadena with the grace and symmetry of a blind finger-painter.
When: Sunday, January 18th @ 11:30 am
Where: Old Town Pasadena, Raymond and Colorado Sts., Pasadena
Cost: FREE

Last Chance Ice Skating in Santa Monica

What: This is your last chance to spite the pathetic Chicago snowmen (and women) trapped in the winter hell they decided to live in. Muah ha ha. Only in Los Angeles can you happen upon an ice rink in 80 degree weather and dignify your otherwise puzzling purchase of mittens, ear muffs and other frosty gear. The ice rink in downtown Santa Monica is facing its last weekend in operation, so you better get your hot buns over there for some triple lutzes. Or amateur scuffling while clutching the guardrail. Whatever.
When: This weekend, 10:00 am- 10:00 pm
Where: 1324 5th St., Santa Monica, 90401
Cost:$10 (includes skate rental)
Info: Visit www.downtownsm.com for more details

Pennywise @ The Palladium

What
: "For all my friends, present, past and beyond, For all those who weren't with us too long: Life is the most precious thing you can lose..." The punk boys that brought you the sad but strong anthem 'Bro Hymn' (with that rousing chorus: "Ohhhhh Ohhhhhh, Ohhhhhh Ohhhhhh Ohhhhhh") are hitting the Palladium for some much needed mosh pit bonding. These guys have been around for a while, and they always serve up a great blend of mind-numbing speed metal (that's a stretch) and heart string tugging tunes.
When
: Tonight @ 8:00 pm
Where
: Hollywood Palladium, 6215 W. Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, 90028
Cost
: $22

Sound Tribe Sector 9 (STS9) @ The Wiltern

What: Any open-minded fan of jam bands should appreciate the one-of-a-kind sound of Santa Cruz based musicians with a knack for outer-spacey sets and a seamless sound. Be prepared to be whisked away to another world with their infamous two-hour sets of non-stop sensory grooves.
When: Saturday, January 17th @ 9:00 pm
Where: The Wiltern, 3790 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles (Koreatown) 90010
Cost: $26
